What Are the Levels of Automated Driving?

Automated driving is not all or nothing. Automakers regularly add active safety and self-driving features that generally fall into logical groups based on the amount of human involvement and how they affect acceleration and braking. The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has developed a scale from one to five to describe this continuum.
