Human error causes 94 percent of car accidents. Many of them could be avoided if vehicles were able to recognize the dangerous behaviors of pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and other drivers. With hundreds of engineers working on advanced safety, our Krakow Tech Center contributes to creating technologies that are saving lives and reducing accidents.

The #OneTeam that has been recognized by the industry’s elite for game-changing innovation — many times
Among other accolades, we’ve been recognized for our Gesture Control System with the PACE Award, the most prestigious supplier award in the automotive industry. But the appreciation comes to our Krakow engineering team not only from outside Aptiv. The Aptiv community at large recognized and awarded the team that designed our extra-thin 0,13 mm2 cable for signal and power distribution. Before that, the thinnest cable known in the automotive space for mass production was 0,35 mm2. Today, all major players on the market use our invention. Kudos to these innovators!

Have you ever wondered how the components in your car withstand extreme temperatures, vibrations and road conditions? At Aptiv Krakow, we leave nothing to chance. Our state-of-the-art Automotive Validation Center — the largest of its kind in Europe — puts every product to the test, ensuring unmatched quality, reliability and durability.
And we’re taking it even further. Aptiv is investing in new cutting-edge testing chambers at our Technical Center that are designed to push the limits of automotive validation. This facility will enable us to refine and perfect our technologies under the most demanding conditions, reinforcing our commitment to safety, performance and innovation.

The #OneTeam that taught cars how to respond to hand gestures
Our Krakow engineers designed the first of its kind Gesture Control System for premium brands. Launched in 2015 with BMW, the technology enables a driver to control the center console of a car using basic hand gestures.

Aptiv Krakow is home to over 2000 engineers and more than 900 specialists in business functions such as logistics, finance and purchasing. This means that, in theory, we could populate a small town! Most people don’t think twice about features like electronic doors and windows, electronic steering and braking, dynamic suspension, propulsion or keyless access, even though they use them daily. But that’s where Aptiv’s Connectivity & Security team shines.
The Krakow team played a key role in developing Aptiv’s Secure Connected Gateway — a solution that manages the vehicle network, ensuring security, data collection and analytics. Acting as the single point of entry and exit, the gateway minimizes potential vulnerabilities. Kudos to our cybersecurity experts for keeping us safe on the road!

The #OneTeam that knows how to turn euros into a safer, greener and more connected future
Imagine a future where our cars not only react to the road but also understand the behavior of the driver behind the wheel. This vision became a reality with SIMUSAFE — the Simulator of Behavioral Aspects for Safer Transport — a project financed by the European Commission under Horizon 2020 and brought to life by our Advanced Engineering team. Through a three-phase research cycle, SIMUSAFE monitoring technology captures data on road-user behavior and uses it to create more realistic simulation environments for safer transport.
This is just one of the many projects we’re driving forward with EU support. Our teams are also working on cutting-edge driver-assistance systems and the Interior Sensing Platform — designed to detect distractions and prevent life-threatening incidents.

The #OneTeam that processes dozens of petabytes every single day
It’s hard to imagine processing such vast amounts of data, given that a petabyte is equivalent to 500.000 full HD movies. Luckily for us, we have an amazing IT crew that knows exactly what to do with information gathered during all of our test rides around the world. The Krakow IT department encompasses a variety of talents, including experts in infrastructure, cloud technology and end-user computing, along with groups that take care of messaging and collaboration, high-performance computing, applications, networks, business relationship management systems, architecture, project management systems, and operations and business planning. Kudos to our IT team, which supports the daily work of our entire company!
